Fighting Incontinence in Men
Just because you’re on this site, doesn’t mean you don’t have control. Although you may feel at your body’s mercy, there are always steps you can take to reduce improper bowel functions. We know we spend a lot of time talking about what’s coming out of your body, but what really matters is what you put in it.
Healthy is Helpful*
Whenever it comes to taking care of yourself, the first step is almost always going to be related to what you’re eating. Improving your bowel control could be as simple as eating the right foods. Consider getting 20-35 grams of fiber a day. Examples of foods with great sources of fiber include:
- Whole Grains
Other than eating, consider what you’re drinking. Are you drinking at least eight 8-ounce glasses of liquid a day? Water is always your best option, as it is completely natural. Drinks such as alcohol, milk, coffee, or anything carbonated should be avoided as they are drinks that can give you diarrhea.

Next, take a look in your pantry and refrigerator. Is there anything you could cut out of your diet? Any of these products should be replaced with better options.
- Dairy Products
- Foods and Drinks with Caffeine
- Spicy Foods
- Fatty Foods
Foods better suited for your GI tract include beans, broccoli, or raspberries. If you’re not ready to trade your pantry in for a new one yet, consider keeping a list of everything you eat. Take this list to your next doctor visit and see what feedback they can give you. Maybe you’ll start noticing your own patterns as well and can fight your incontinence by adjusting your diet.
You may have to drive to your local grocery store to make adjustments to your home pantry, but Discreetly Dignified offers adult diaper delivery. Contact us with a message for more information!
*Discreetly Dignified wants to be clear that unless your incontinence is caused be a temporary illness such as diarrhea, the steps you take to improve your health will not necessarily cure you of your incontinence, but instead may help relieve any side effects that come as a result of it.
